Downtown Las Vegas Blackjack

4Queens – 4Queens is located on Fremont Street. It is the second worst place to play blackjack in downtown Las Vegas. There are three decent games at 4Queens. All hit soft 17. One good eight-deck shoe table pays 3-2 on blackjack. Players can double down before and after splitting. There is also a double deck that only permits double down before splitting. There are two Blackjack Switch tables. The rest of the blackjack tables at 4Queens only pay 6-5.

Binion’s – Binion’s is owned by the same company as 4Queens. The blackjack is even worse, with just one exception. There is a single deck that has $10 to $500 limits and pays 3-2. Players may only double down on 10 and 11 before splitting. The single deck game has a $1 minimum on Throwback Thursdays. All other blackjack tables pay 6-5. The dealer hits soft 17 at every table at Binion’s.

California – California is a Boyd Gaming property located on Ogden a block from Fremont Street. All dealers hit soft 17. Most of its games are $5 to $1,000 double deck games. Players can double down before the split but not after. The only shoe game now pays 6-5 and has $3 to $300 limits. There is also a $5 Super Fun 21 table.

Downtown Grand – Downtown Grand is a casino one block from Fremont Street on Ogden. There is a small blackjack pit that offers $10 double deck blackjack with double down before and after splitting, as well as a shoe that has those rules plus surrender and re-split aces. The pit is only open from 2pm to 2am on weekdays and noon to 2am on weekends. It is the only casino in downtown Las Vegas that does not operate table games 24 hours a day. There is video blackjack for the other time periods.

El Cortez – El Cortez offers the best blackjack game in Las Vegas. This game has a $10 minimum and uses one deck. Players may double down on any two cards and blackjack pays 3-2. There is also a $5 double deck that pays 3-2 and permits double down before and after splitting. Be careful at El Cortez. They are quick to back off card counters.

Golden Gate – Golden Gate is located at Fremont Street and Main Street. It offers two blackjack games that hit soft 17 and pay 3-2 on blackjack. One is a six-deck shoe that allows double down before and after splitting. The other is Free Bet Blackjack. Each has a $5 minimum bet during the day. That goes up to $10 at night.

Golden Nugget – Golden Nugget offers a wide variety of blackjack games. These start at terrible 6-5 party pit games that players should walk past. Low limit players will find $10 shoe games that permit double down on any two cards and after splitting, as well as surrender and re-split aces. The dealer hits soft 17 and blackjack pays 3-2. This game is also in high limit with the same rules. There are two double deck blackjack games. The one on the main floor is typically $15 during the week and $25 on weekends. It allows double down before but not after splitting. The high limit salon has a double deck blackjack game that permits double down before and after splitting. The minimum bet is $25 during the week and $50 on weekends. Players will also find Super Fun 21 and Free Bet Blackjack on the main casino floor.

Main Street Station – Main Street Station is located two blocks north of the intersection of Fremont Street and Main Street. It offers three blackjack games. The most popular is a $5 game that deals two decks and allows double down on any two cards but not after splitting. There is a $3 six-deck game that has the same rules. The dealer hits soft 17 and blackjack pays 3-2 at both games. There is also Super Fun 21 at Main Street Station.

Plaza – Plaza is located across from the Fremont Street Experience on Main Street. It offers two traditional blackjack games. Both hit soft 17 and pay 3-2 on blackjack. One is a $5 six-deck shoe that offers double down before and after splitting. There is a $25 double deck with the same rules. Free Bet Blackjack is also spread. Plaza is the only place to play “Most Liberal 21” but its rules are not as favorable to players as the name suggests.

The D – The D is located in the middle of the Fremont Street Experience. There are three blackjack games at The D. All pay 3-2 on blackjack and hit soft 17. There is a $5 six-deck shoe that becomes $10 on weekend nights. This game permits double down on any two cards and after splitting. There is a similar game in the high limit area with a $25 minimum bet. There is a $5 Free Bet Blackjack table. There is also a $50 double deck game in high limit that allows players to double down on any two cards and after splitting.

Las Vegas Strip Blackjack

Aria – Aria once had great blackjack for low limit players. These days, only high rollers get a good game. There are double deck and shoe tables where the dealer stands on all 17’s. Players can double down before and after splitting. On the shoe, surrender and re-split aces are also permitted. The minimum for the double deck is $100, while the shoe has a $50 minimum. For $25, players will find a 3-2 shoe game that hits soft 17. All other tables pay 6-5.

Bally’s – Bally’s has a new high limit area. The best game is a stand on 17 that allows double down before and after splitting, as well as surrender. The double deck in high limit hits soft 17 and only permits double down before splitting, not after. Limits are $25 to $5,000. There is a shoe game on the main floor with the same rules as the high limit one, except that the dealer hits soft 17. Limits are $10 to $2,000. There is a party pit that only pays 6-5 on blackjack that players should avoid.

Bellagio – Bellagio is just like Aria. Players will find $50 shoe games and $100 double deck games that stand on all 17’s. The double deck permits double down before and after splitting. The shoe adds surrender and re-split aces to those rules. A $25 player will find the high limit shoe rules but with the dealer hitting soft 17. Bettors under $25 will get 6-5 games dealt out of a continuous shuffle machine.

Caesars Palace – There is a tale of two blackjack games at Caesars Palace. High limit offers a stand on 17 shoe game. This has $100 to $10,000 limits. Double down before and after splitting, as well as surrender is offered. A double deck with $200-$10,000 limits offers double down before and after splitting. This game hits soft 17. The casino floor offers two shoe games with $10 limits. Both hit soft 17. One has double before and after splitting, as well as surrender. It pays 3-2 on blackjack. The other only allows double down on 10 and 11. It also pays 6-5. Most of these 6-5 tables are in the party pit, although some are in standard pits.

Cosmopolitan – The blackjack at Cosmopolitan is quite poor at most limits. There are some $25 and $50 double deck blackjack tables that pay 3-2 and offer double down before and after splitting. There are eight shoe tables with a $25 minimum bet with the same rules. There is a shoe in the high limit with the same rules that stands on all 17’s, as well as a double deck with a $300 minimum bet. Most tables on the main floor pay 6-5 and should be avoided.

The Cromwell – Blackjack at Cromwell has two extremes. The high limit six-deck shoe stands on all 17’s. It offers double down before and after splitting, as well as surrender. This game had a $100 minimum bet. For $15, players can get this game with the same rules that hit soft 17. The remaining games are unplayable single deck and shoe games that pay 6-5 on blackjack.

Encore – Encore is connected to Wynn. Its blackjack games are hit and miss. There are two pits where all blackjack games pay 6-5. This includes single deck and shoes. It is a 3-2 double deck that permits double down before and after splitting. There are many continuous shuffle games that pay 6-5. Both hit soft 17. The best game is actually on two video blackjack machines. These stand on all 17 and offer double down before and after splitting, as well as surrender. These video blackjack machines even accept an MLife players card.

Flamingo – Flamingo offers three playable blackjack games. The high limit has a stand on 17 game that offers double down before and after splitting, as well as surrender. The minimum bet for this game is $100. A handful of tables on the main floor have eight-deck shoes with these same rules except that the dealer hits soft 17. There is a $25 double deck game on the main floor that hits soft 17 and has double down before splitting, but not after. The rest of the tables have $10 minimum bets but only pay 6-5 on a natural.

Harrah’s – Harrah’s is in the middle of the Strip. It has several blackjack options. Only three offer respectable rules. One is a $10 shoe that has double down before and after splitting, as well as surrender. The dealer hits soft 17 and blackjack pays 3-2. There is a $100 game in the high limit salon with these same rules except that the dealer stands on all 17’s. There is also double deck blackjack with a $25 minimum bet. It allows double down on any two cards but not after splitting. The dealer hits soft 17. There are some eight-deck shoes and a single deck game that pays 6-5 on blackjack. A video blackjack game also short pays dealt natural winners.

Linq – The Linq was once known as The Quad and before that Imperial Palace. O’Sheas is also a part of The Linq. There are a handful of $10 or $15 3-2 blackjack shoe games that allow double down before and after splitting, as well as surrender. These tables go up to $25 on weekends. These are located in the rear of the casino. The rest of the games pay 6-5 on a natural, including the ones at O’Sheas. The maximum bet is $1,000 at all tables at The Linq.

Luxor – Luxor is the pyramid located on the south end of the Strip. It once spread decent low limit blackjack, but not these days. The only decent game on the main casino floor is a $25 double deck that allows double down on any two cards and after splitting. There is a $100 six-deck shoe game in high limit that permits double down on any two cards and after splitting. Surrender and re-split aces are also allowed. Blackjack also pays 3-2 here. The dealer hits soft 17 at these games. All of the other live blackjack games pay 6-5 on an ace and a face. There is a good video blackjack machine at Luxor that accepts a players card and pays 3-2 on a natural.

Mandalay Bay – The blackjack at Mandalay Bay is nowhere near as player friendly as it once was. It takes $25 to get a 3-2 game these days. A player will get a six-deck shoe that hits soft 17 and allows double down before and after splitting, as well as surrender and re-split aces. It takes $200 to get this game in high limit where the dealer stands on all 17’s. There is also a double deck that allows double down before and after splitting. It also has a $200 minimum and stands on all 17’s. Blackjack in the high limit salon always pays 3-2. Players betting less than $25 will get a 6-5 game dealt out of a continuous shuffle machine. There are some Free Bet Blackjack and Blackjack Switch tables for lower limit players with a $10 or $15 minimum bet.

MGM Grand – MGM Grand once had the honor of the best blackjack in Las Vegas. High rollers still get great games, but low rollers suffer from the fact that all games under $50 pay 6-5 on a blackjack. Once you get to $50, you will find a stand on 17 six-deck shoe that allows double down on any two cards and after splitting, as well as surrender and re-split aces. A $100 double deck permits double down before and after splitting and stands on all 17’s. Both pay 3-2 on blackjack. There is also a 3-2 video blackjack game with a $5 minimum, as well as two 6-5 ones that should be avoided.

Monte Carlo – Monte Carlo is another MGM Resorts casino that destroyed its blackjack conditions that were historically favorable. There are two eight-deck tables that pay 3-2 on blackjack and allow double down before and after splitting. A high limit version of this game has a $100 minimum and adds re-split aces and surrender. Players will also find a $25 double deck blackjack that allows double down before and after splitting.

Paris Las Vegas – Paris Las Vegas sits under the Eiffel Tower in the middle of the Las Vegas Strip. There are many $10 3-2 eight-deck shoe games at Paris Las Vegas. These allow double down on any two cards, double down after splitting and surrender. The dealer hits soft 17. A $100 high limit shoe game has these same rules but the dealer stands on all 17’s. There are some $25 double deck tables where players can double down before splitting but not after. The dealer also hits soft 17 here and blackjack pays 3-2. A party pit spreads 6-5 blackjack games.

Planet Hollywood – Planet Hollywood is a Caesars property with average blackjack conditions. There are some 6-5 games in party pits. There are also some $15 eight-deck shoe games that pay 3-2 in other pits. These games permit double down on any two cards, double down after splitting and surrender. The dealer hits soft 17. A $100 game in the high limit salon has these same rules with one difference in that the dealer stands on all 17’s. There is also a $25 double deck pitch game where players may double down before splitting but not afterwards. The dealer hits soft 17 in this game. It pays 3-2 on blackjack.

SLS Las Vegas – SLS Las Vegas is on the former site of Sahara on the far north end of the Strip. There are four versions of traditional blackjack at SLS Las Vegas. One is a $5 six-deck shoe that offers double down on any two cards, double down after splitting, surrender and re-split aces. This game pays 3-2 on blackjack and hits soft 17. A $100 game in the high limit salon offers the same rules but stands on all 17’s. There is also a 6-5 single deck game on the main floor. For $100, players will find a double deck in the high limit salon. Blackjack pays 3-2 and players may double down on any two cards and after splitting. The dealer hits soft 17.

Stratosphere – Stratosphere is the 112-story tower just north of the Las Vegas Strip. It offers three different blackjack games. One is a $10 six-deck shoe. It offers double down before and after splitting. A $25 double deck game is dealt as a pitch and spreads the same rules. Both games pay 3-2 on blackjack. There are two pits that spread 6-5 blackjack with a $5 minimum bet. All blackjack games at Stratosphere hit soft 17.

Palazzo – Palazzo is sister casino to Venetian. Blackjack conditions were destroyed there in 2014 when Las Vegas Sands converted all of its blackjack games under $50 to 6-5 tables. It takes $50 to get paid 3-2 on blackjack these days at Palazzo. This game is a double deck that permits double down before and after splitting. The dealer hits soft 17. There is a $200 game with the same rules where the dealer stands on all 17’s. There is a $100 or $200 six-deck shoe that allows double down on any two cards, double down after splitting, surrender and re-split aces. This game stands on all 17’s. The best bet for low limit players is the video blackjack machine called “Dealers Angels” that allows double down before and after splitting, as well as surrender. The minimum bet on this machine is $5 and the dealer hits soft 17.

Treasure Island – Treasure Island is also referred to as simply TI. It is the best place on the Las Vegas Strip to play low limit blackjack. Players will find $10 double deck games that permit double down on any two cards and after splitting. There is also a $10 six-deck shoe game that has these double down rules and also offers re-split aces and surrender. Some six-deck games are dealt out of continuous shuffle machines. These $10 games hit soft 17. There are $25 games with these rules in the high limit area that stand on all 17’s. There are also some 6-5 single deck blackjack tables.

Tropicana – Tropicana offers four different blackjack games. There is a $5 6-5 blackjack game dealt out of a continuous shuffle machine. A couple of $10 tables by the front door also pay 6-5 on a blackjack. Some $10 tables pay 3-2 on a blackjack and allow double down before and after splitting. A $25 double deck has the same rules. A $100 double deck game in high limit follows the procedure of the $25 one on the main floor. All of these tables hit soft 17. There is also a $100 six-deck shoe that stands on all 17’s. Players may double down on any two cards, double down after splitting and surrender.

Venetian – Las Vegas Sands, parent company of Venetian, dumped its player friendly rules on games under $50 in 2014. All live blackjack games at $25 and lower now pay 6-5 on a natural. Players willing to bet $50 will find a double deck game that allows double down before and after splitting. There is also a $50 six-deck shoe that permits double down before and after splitting. Surrender and re-split aces are also available. All of these games hit soft 17 and pay 3-2 on blackjack. There is also a six-deck shoe in the high limit salon that has the same rules as the $50 one except that the dealer stands on all 17’s. This game has a $200 minimum bet. A $200 double deck also stands on all 17’s in the Venetian high limit salon.

Wynn – Wynn is located towards the north end of the Las Vegas Strip. Its games under $25 all pay 6-5 these days. Players willing to bet at least $25 will find six-deck shoe games that allow double down before and after splitting, as well as surrender. This game pays 3-2 on blackjack and hits soft 17. For $200, players can get this game where the dealer stands on all 17’s. It takes $500 to get a double deck pitch game. This allows double down before and after splitting. The six-deck shoe has the same rules with $3 to $500 limits.

Fiesta – There are two Fiestas in the Las Vegas area. One is near downtown Henderson. The other is in North Las Vegas. Both offer the same games. One of the good games is a double deck with a $5 minimum where double down before and after splitting is allowed. A $5 six-deck shoe game has the same rules but also allows surrender. Both pay 3-2 on a blackjack and the dealer hits soft 17. There is a $3 continuous shuffle machine and $5 single deck that only pays 6-5 on blackjack. The continuous shuffle machine pays even money on $3 and $4 bets. It permits players to wager just $2 if making the $1 Lucky Lucky side bet.

Gold Coast – Gold Coast is located just west of the Las Vegas Strip. The most popular blackjack game is $5 double deck. Double down before and after splitting is allowed. There are $5 shoe games with these same rules. Both pay 3-2 and hit soft 17. There are also two Super Fun 21 tables.

Green Valley Ranch – Green Valley Ranch is located just west of Henderson. It is a Stations Casino. There are three blackjack games there. All pay 3-2 on a natural. A double deck game starts at $10 and permits double down before and after splitting and hits soft 17. A $10 six-deck shoe game offers double down before and after splitting. Surrender is also permitted. This game hits soft 17. There is a $50 game in the high limit salon with these rules but it stands on all 17’s.

Hooters – Hooters offers three different blackjack games. One is a single deck that allows double down only on 10 and 11. It pays 3-2 and has a $10 minimum. A $5 shoe game allows double down before and after splitting and pays 3-2 on blackjack. There is a $3 game that only pays 6-5 on blackjack but goes down to even money on bets under $3. All blackjack tables at Hooters hit soft 17.

M Resort – M Resort is located on the far south end of the Las Vegas Valley. It offers some great blackjack games. The double deck has a $10 minimum and allows double down before and after splitting, as well as re-split aces. For $100, you can get this same game that stands on all 17’s. M Resort is one of the last places in Las Vegas where aces may be re-split in a double deck game. The $5 shoe, which is $10 during peak hours, allows double down before and after splitting, surrender and re-split aces. Blackjack pays 3-2. The dealer hits on soft 17 but for $100 this same game is in high limit where the dealer stands on all 17’s.

Palace Station – Palace Station is owned by Station Casinos. It is just across I-15 from the Strip on Sahara Ave. There are two blackjack games. One is a double deck with double down before and after splitting. The minimum bet is $5 or $10, depending on the time of day. There is also a $5 shoe with these rules that also adds surrender. All blackjacks pay 3-2 and the dealer hits soft 17.

Palms – There are two playable blackjack games at Palms. One is a double deck with a $10 minimum bet. It allows double down before and after splitting. There is also a six-deck shoe that has the same rules. Blackjack pays 3-2 in both games and the dealer hits soft 17. There is a $3 3-2 video blackjack machine that has double down before and after splitting, as well as surrender. Palms Casino also offers Blackjack Switch. A high limit salon is available at Palms but it is only open upon request with advance notice.

Railroad Pass – Railroad Pass is between downtown Henderson and Boulder City on US 93/95. It has two blackjack games. Both have the same rules. A $5 double deck blackjack game allows double down before and after splitting. A $3 shoe game has the same rules. Both games hit soft 17 and pay 3-2 on a blackjack.

Rampart – Rampart is located in the western suburb of Summerlin. It offers two blackjack games. One is a double deck that permits double down before and after splitting. There is also a shoe with the same rules that also adds surrender and re-split aces. The minimum bet for both games is $5. There is one double deck table with a $25 minimum bet. All blackjack games at Rampart pay 3-2 on blackjack and hit soft 17.

Red Rock – Red Rock is a high end locals casino in Summerlin. It spreads $10 six-deck shoe games that offer double down on any two cards, double down after splitting and surrender. Double deck games start at $15 and allow double down before and after splitting. Both of these games pay 3-2 on blackjack and hit soft 17. There is a $50 double deck game with the same rules as the one on the main floor. A shoe game in high limit has a $100 minimum and allows double down before and after splitting, as well as surrender. The dealer stand on all 17’s and blackjack pays 3-2. There is also a 6-5 single deck game spread at Red Rock.

Sam’s Town – Sam’s Town is located on Boulder Highway. The most popular blackjack game at Sam’s Town is a $10 double deck. Players can double down before splitting. Double down after splitting is not permitted. Blackjack pays 3-2. There is also a $3 game dealt out of a continuous shuffle machine with the same rules. There is also single and double deck Super Fun 21 with a $5 minimum bet.

Santa Fe Station – Santa Fe Station is located on the far northwest side of Las Vegas. It is owned by Station Casinos. All blackjack games at Santa Fe Station pay 3-2 and hit soft 17. The most popular is a $5 double deck that allows double down after splitting and on any two cards. A $5 shoe game has the same rules but also offers surrender.

Silverton – Silverton is a locals joint south of the Las Vegas Strip. Its most popular game is a $5 double deck that offers double down before and after splitting. A $5 six-deck shoe game offers the same rules. There is also a $10 single deck blackjack game that permits double down on 10 and 11 only. Double down after splitting is not allowed in the single deck game at Silverton. All of these games pay 3-2 on blackjack with the dealer hitting soft 17.

South Point – South Point offers two blackjack games. For $5, players will find a six-deck shoe that offers double down on any two cards and after splitting. There is also a double deck pitch game that offers the same rules. The double deck blackjack minimum bet is also $5. Both games pay 3-2 on blackjack and hit soft 17.

Suncoast – Suncoast is a Boyd Gaming locals joint that is located in Summerlin. It spreads two blackjack games. One is a six-deck shoe that has a $5 minimum bet.
